Minutes of January 10, 2002

Marlene opened the meeting at 7pm.

Old Business

Treasurer’s report – Sara distributed a Balance Sheet showing a current balance of  $2,661.03

 Jones Maltsberger property status – Marlene reported no change in status or zoning.

 Changing our Assoc. Name – Marlene reported that, back in 1999, we had a 90% return on votes to change our Association’s name.  The name that was chosen was “The Park at Heritage Oaks”.  The following points were made:

  • If approved at the meeting, investigation will proceed with the city to confirm the current understanding of the process and all consequences.

  • No known money to change name.

  • Approximately $5.00  to change in individual residents’ deeds?

  • Don’t think that property tax will be affected.

It was voted on and approved unanimously to continue with the process.  Because the neighborhood has changed significantly since the last vote, a new balloting will need to be done of the entire neighborhood (all residents, not just the association members).

 Marlene asked for volunteers to solicit ballots.  No one volunteered at the time.  If interested, volunteers are instructed to contact Marlene.

 Introduction of New Board Members and Committee Members

Marlene introduced new board and committee members.

 Committees’ Reports

Landscaping - Marlene advised that more work will be done in the flowerbed around the entry sign in the spring.

Newsletter – Marlene advised that she had two volunteers she would be contacting to produce the quarterly  newsletter.

Website - Robert reported that the current website we use is not user friendly and is hard to update.  He has researched a different website provider.  The following points were made:

  • New website would cost $7.77 a month if 1 year is paid up front.

  • If done quarterly, $7.00 a month plus a $20.00 fee.

  • $15.00 for a domain name per year.

  • User friendly with emails and aliases available.  This type of website could contain pictures of events, newsletters, treasures report, referral for odd jobs etc.

  • A master copy of website would be on Robert’s computer.  If website vendor left, domain would go with us.

It was voted on and agreed to look at going forward with this.  Marlene will look at the budget with the other board members.  It was suggested that we get sponsors to fund this.  They, in turn, could have a link on our website.  Some of the sponsors mentioned were HEB, Real Estate companies, restaurants.

 Social Committee – Stewart gave tentative dates for 2002 events:

*      Spring Garage Sale – April 6th
*      Cookout – May 18th
*      Fall Garage Sale – Sept. 21st
*      Pumpkin Carving – October 26 or 27th
*      Christmas – December 8th

New Business

Sign additions have been purchased to add to our current signs:  ‘Garage Sale Saturday’ and “Membership Drive”.

New “Welcome Packets” have been designed and produced by Carol Holt, and are available through the block captains.

Marlene attended a meeting with the Friends of McAllister Park.  A petition was available to sign and has to do with the changed traffic patterns at McAllister park, the sports fields, and the “no left” turn problem off Wurzbach Parkway.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:50pm.
