Minutes of NCHNA meeting held at Sterling House on Thursday, September 10, 2009 I.
Call to order – the
meeting was called to order at approximately 7:00PM with Linda Christie,
secretary, reading the minutes from the June 11, 2009 meeting. II.
Financial Report –
currently we have a balance of $5824.00 in our account. III.
Guest Speaker –
Officer Joe Gilliam, with the SAPD and our new SAFFE officer, gave a brief talk.
He was very impressed with the turn out at the meeting and he looks
forward to getting to know our area better.
Several residents mentioned an abandoned vehicle on Salt Lick, which he
went to look at after the meeting. Good
news….it is to be removed shortly. IV.
Old Business – The
sign on Money Tree will begin its transformation this weekend.
We are looking for a few volunteers to pull out the remaining old plants
(sage) along with removing the letters from the existing sign. In addition, the
sign will be pressure washed; stained and hardy plank will be installed over the
existing blue wood. If you have the expertise and are willing to volunteer a
couple of hours of your time, we would greatly appreciate it this Saturday; the
12th at 9 a.m. Ed Bakunas has volunteered his architectural
landscaping expertise to head this activity. The following weekend, we will
need volunteers to finish the sign along with planting of the newly purchased
plants. Please watch the website www.NCHNA.org
for the exact time. Hope to see you
there. The skate
boarders behind the homes on Salt Lick have not been seen recently.
If the problem persists, please feel free to call Joe Gilliam, our SAFFE
Officer, at 218-6529 OR dial the non-emergency number 207-SAPD. V.
New Business – The Mary Ann Vaughn (Social Chairperson) and Mary Palmer (Head Block Captain) will contact current block captains to try to get more residents to participate in this year’s Neighborhood Night Out activities. This year will be individual gatherings organized by the streets/residents themselves rather than the whole neighborhood organization hosting the event. Banners will be put up in the immediate area to advertise the date and to remind the residents to get with their neighbors even if it is only for a handshake J A possible May Spring Fling will
be discussed at the next meeting. Start
thinking of possible locations - possibly something at one of the pavilions at A list of good service providers
will be posted on the website very shortly. If
you have a company to add, please notify the webmaster or e-mail the information
to Linda Christie at lchristie@coatesenergy.com
VI.
The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 7th @ 7PM at
the Sterling House Nursing Home. This
will be for the election of new officers. If
you are interested in running for an office, please contact Richard Palmer. VI. The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 PM. |
